Merger News
CenturyTel and EMBARQ announced June 2 the selection of CenturyLink as the name of their combined company. Upon the closing of the acquisition of EMBARQ by CenturyTel, CenturyTel will be changing its name to CenturyLink. CenturyLink will continue to provide communications and entertainment services to customers in its markets across 33 states under the CenturyTel and EMBARQ brands for the next several months. The company expects to launch the CenturyLink brand across most of its markets by year end 2009.
